List of 20 "Richest Towns" in America

Montana is no longer affordable, or at the very least can no longer be considered "cheap."

It might surprise you then that no town in Montana made the list of the 20 richest towns in America.

The richest town on the list, Atherton, CA, has an average household income of $525,324, with the median home value there being just shy of $8 million.

While the 20th richest town on the list is Great Falls, VA has an average household income of $311,915, and the median home value there is a modest $1.4 million.

Turns Out Montana Could Have Been On The List

The list of the 20 Richest Towns In America came from the website Veranda.

To come up with the median home values they utilized Zillow, which is an online real estate website where you can check prices of homes in your area, or anywhere in America.

Remember how we said the median value of a home in Great Falls, VA was $1.4 million? Well, the median value of a home in Big Sky is $1.6 million.

The reason for their omission from the list is that Bloomberg, who published the original list, only considered places that had at minimum 2,000 households, and with just over 2,000 people living in Big Sky, there weren't enough houses to be included.

What Montana Town Will Be Next On The List?

It makes you wonder about places like Bozeman, where there are over 2,000 households, and now has a median home value of just over 700,000.

How much longer will it be until they or any other Montana town are named one of the 20 Richest Towns In America, yet no one from Montana can afford to live there?
