Twelve things cheaper than a dozen eggs you can buy right now

You may have seen some memes on social media lately talking about how expensive eggs are.  Perhaps you thought it was all fun and games, but have you looked at the price of a dozen eggs lately? Holy smokes eggs are clucking expensive right now.

I asked our listeners how much they were paying for a dozen eggs and after doing math for the first time in over 20 years, I figured it was just over 6 dollars for a dozen eggs in Great Falls.

That's 50 cents an egg.  Remember when eggs were the cheap way to get protein in your diet?

There are plenty of reasons for the increase in egg prices.  The biggest reason is the Avian Flu affecting nearly 44 million egg laying hens.  That's about 5 to 6 percent of the total production of eggs in America according to this story from the Washington Post.

So it got me thinking what could you buy right now for less than it would cost to buy a dozen eggs.  I think I came up with a pretty good list of things right now that will cost you less to purchase than the cost of eggs.  It might be outdated by next week, or it might even be a bigger steal if the price continues to go up.

Who knows you might even be able to buy some of these things and trade them for a dozen or so eggs from your local "crazy chicken lady" that I keep reading about on Facebook.
