Montana’s Most Peaceful Roadside Attraction Is Also Its Weirdest

Montana relies on tourism a great deal for our economy. The thing is, most of our tourism economy comes from places like Yellowstone National Park or Glacier National Park.

What we don't have a lot of are tourist trap attractions, but one of the oddest and weirdest ones in America is right here under the Big Sky.

Forget Souvenir Shops—This Spiritual Spot Draws Tourists Worldwide

I grew up in South Dakota, and that state is full of tourist traps like Mount Rushmore, the Corn Palace, and Wall Drug.

Montana, on the other hand, relies more on our state being "The Last Best Place," and seeing our tourism come from the great outdoors our state offers.

Still, the website called "Fifty Grande" found each state's weirdest roadside attraction, and here in Montana, it's guaranteed to bring you a bit of serenity.

Peace, Prayer, and a Whole Lot of Statues Under the Big Sky

Located near Arlee, MT, in the Jocko Valley on the Flathead Indian Reservation, you will find the Garden of One Thousand Buddhas.

Exactly as the name implies, there you will find 1,000 identical hand-cast statues, the last of which was placed in 2015.

Today people come from all over the world to worship and pray here, and you can as well, since the garden is both free to the public and open year-round.

However, this isn't the only unique place to be found in the Treasure State, as you'll see in the gallery below.
