Images From The 2023 St. Patrick’s Day Parade In Great Falls
Today's the day we are all a little bit Irish. Actually Montana is quite a bit Irish, it is the second highest ancestry in Montana. At one point during the early twentieth century Butte actually had the highest percentage of Irish heritage in American, even more than Boston. Here in Great Falls a St. Patrick's Day Tradition is the St. Patrick's Day Parade.
If you weren't able to make it downtown for the parade, we have got you covered. We were there in the parade, and during it I walked around and made sure to get plenty of pictures of the parade.
Plenty of Great Falls businesses were represented along with different organizations and groups as well. There were young and old, dogs and ponies, and plenty of kilts on display.
We could not have asked for better weather for it as well, considering what we had just a few days earlier. The crowd represented that, downtown was packed for the parade. Kids were eager to grab the candy that was allowed to be thrown out as well.
The parade is put on together by the Downtown Great Falls Association and The Ancient Order of Hibernians, and has been that way for the last 30 years. I unfortunately could not find any information as to when the first St. Patrick's Day parade took place in the Electric City. If you know any information on that email me and we'll update the story.
Now here are the pictures from the parade if you missed it this afternoon.
